Vijay demands medical attention for actors

Actor Vijay Patkar, who is also the president of Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM), recently demanded that the artists and other professionals from the Marathi film industry (who are members of the ABMCM) should avail reserved seats at all the government hospitals across the state.
To put forwards his demand, Patkar also visited Snehal Ambekar, mayor of Mumbai recently.
Talking to Pune Times about the proposal, Patkar said, ���There are many film actors and other professionals who suffer from financial crisis as the industry can be unpredictable with its work flow at times. If ABMCM could help them in this way, it will lift a big monetary burden from their shoulders. Hence, I have put forward this demand to the Mumbai mayor to reserve at least two beds from the ���special ward��� in all the hospitals of the municipal corporation for our artists. The officials have assured a positive action on this proposition and hopefully very soon we will have exclusively allotted beds for the actors and other artists in the government hospitals.���
The actor is now planning to send out the same proposal to the municipal corporations of all the cities across the state for the same. ���Not only junior artists, but there also are few technicians and producers who cannot spend extra chunk of money for a medical treatment in a private hospital. If this amendment is made, they at least do not have to worry about their medical expenses,��� concluded Patkar.
In an already existing scheme, two beds from the special ward of the government hospitals are reserved for the artists from the Marathi theatre industry. If Patkar���s proposal is passed, the film artists will also get the same privilege as the theatre artists.
